MLO 6: Information Technology Literacy
The student demonstrates an ability to use technology in support of his or her scholarly work, including gathering, organizing and analyzing sources and employing appropriate delivery techniques in both written and oral formats.
I took computer science at Monterey Peninsual College during the summer of 2012. My understanding is that this class is no longer a requirement for future MPC graduates. I think that required class is a great tool to have because in my upper division class I was always using it when doing presentations. Every presentation is so much easier if one has the knowledge to do a power point presentation. Among other benefits to that class is the deeper understanding of word, excel and access. Although, I have never used access, I am always using my word, and PowerPoint understanding to do homework at CSUMB. I don't know what I would have done if I did not have this knowledge. Knowing how to insert objects, symbols, pictures, do spell check in different languages, beautify the page with different colors, surrounding text with frames, and so much more is incredible and I am so glad I took the class (computer science) when I did. In all my classes I have had to do presentations and submit paperwork in essay format as a requirement. I also used the tools I learned in my Computer Science course to do all of my assignments that were to be submitted to my weebly site. I have used it quite a bit to prepare for my Capstone presentation as well.
With all the previously mentioned information I believe I easily fulfill MLO6. No question to it.
